Born and raised in China, Yue Zhang grew up in a small town in northwestern China with rich cultural diversity. He then went to the coastal city Tianjin in eastern China for college and graduated from one of the top universities in China, Nankai University, majoring in International Relations.

He then went to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California pursuing his master's degree in public policy.  

After graduating from USC, he worked more than ten years as a News Reporter/ Staff Writer in World Journal, the most influential Chinese language media in North America. During his career as a reporter, his focuses were on politics (both federal and local level) and higher education, also included were some high-profile criminal cases that shocked Asian American communities in SoCal and nationally.  

He was invited as a guest commentator to CNN Radio and Radio Australia during the Chinese President Xi Jinping's meeting with President Obama in Rancho Mirage, California. 

Yue Zhang then went to University of La Verne College of Law and received his JD degree, and he was admitted to the State Bar of California to practice. In law school, he provided pro bono services to help a young lady from Afghanistan seeking asylum and the asylum was granted. He was also interested in courtroom battle and won awards in his advanced trial advocacy class. 

On his leisure time, he is good at cooking Chinese cuisine, he likes long-distance swimming and long-distance running. His next goal is to participate in a triathlon.
